Talk amongst yourselves

Well, y'all. I don't feel like posting anything educational or profound tonight. But I do want comments, so I shall give you a topic for discussion.

The topic is (drum roll please) : why the parking ramp in front of Rivertown Mall is STILL broken after having been "fixed" three times since it's construction and whether you feel safe parking either on top or underneath said ramp.

That is all.

Why isn't it fixed? My guess it that they didn't account for the harsh Michigan weather and the damage it can do to concrete. It buckles when it's hot, turns to crap when it gets cold. I park on the ramp whenever I go to the mall, so it's not really a safety issue in my mind. Just shoddy construction which can only be fixed by tearing the whole thing down and building it again, which they don't want to do for obvious reasons.

That rickity old ramp is my first parking lot of choice. My second is the hill that takes you to the second story of both Marshall Fields and Kohls, over by FYE.

Actually, there's ALWAYS parking in that lot. Remember that when holiday shopping comes around!

I haven't been to Rivertown in ages, but the last time I went I parked under there...nothing collapsed, don't worry.

The answer is always on top. Why? Because I figure that if there was an unfortunate event, I would rather land on top than be smooshed below.

The constant work on the parking ramp is part of an on-going plan to make the mall look even uglier. Once lush, green tree filled areas are all being replaced with giant glops of that gray glop they're slapping everywhere. Very attractive.
